  A bit of recent history

One of the things that kept me sane during the summer of the Bar Admission Course was my job as a research assistant at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic. My main task was to create a new, updated website with more informative and relevant content than existed before, and in fact I ended up writing an extensive profile of the Clinic for the new site. I added some photos of caseworkers from the Clinic, and put it up before I moved.

Anyway, now that it is officially on-line and ready for the public, I thought I'd provide a link so that you can check out the place that I and my sister (and a great many dedicated and hard working law students before and since) spent the bulk of our law school time:

  In other news

I'm pleased to say that the Law Society of Upper Canada informs me that I did indeed pass the Estate Planning and Administration examination that was held two weeks ago, meaning I've successfully completed the academic phase of the Bar Admission Course which was held this summer. No failures or rewrites for me!

All that remains on the exam side now is to take the Accounting course and register for the exam. Accounting is a self-taught module on basic accounting principles for our future practices so that we can be on top of trust accounts and billing and all those law office delights. That in addition to my articling year is the last step in my legal education before I can become a lawyer.

No matter what's going on with my screwy health, it's only a matter of time before I accomplish this goal which has required so much hard work. It really is all falling into place.

Still.

  This Is Wonderland

Just a quick update to let you all know how things are going. I've been in Toronto for about a week and a half, having safely driven myself to this big city in a U-Haul truck, hauling all my possessions (less the 50% of my earthly belongings that I ruthlessly purged) and have been riding the roller coaster ever since.

I spent most of Saturday in the hospital with a new and disturbing medical problem, but rest assured that while my life is not in jeopardy, I do have some health concerns to figure out how to adapt to right now.

And that is that.
