Doings a' Transpirin'
Well, I have another trial coming up -- bright and early at 9am on March 1, to be precise. This time it's going to go ahead for certain, so I've been marvelously busy for the past two weeks. I'm putting in pretty consistent 14-hour days at school, most of it locked inside the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic. I spent a large portion of my Saturday running my client through direct examination questions, thus preparing us both for trial on Monday by ensuring that I ask no surprising questions and my client gives no surprising answers. It's exciting and I feel extremely well-prepared (what with my fourth draft of my trial book and my printed tab labels for the trial binder and endless rehearsals and discussions with experienced trial lawyers), so I'm only a little bit nervous. Still, it's my first trial (since my
last first trial was won only by default, even if I did put in the same amount of preparatory work) so there's bound to be a few jitters as I get closer to the moment of truth.
I've even invited some of my friends from law school (including my older sister) to come by and watch
